The 10th Anniversary of a Birthday Tradition

10 years ago today, from cast housing in Auburn New York, I published a birthday post that became my tradition. So here we are again, y’all, buckle up. It’s July 19th and that means it’s time for a massive post, prefaced the same way every year.

On July 19th, the day before my birthday, I ask everyone to consider diverting the happy birthday messages that I will start to receive at 12:01am on July 20th, and send a nice message to someone else who might need a pick me up instead.

TLDR, skip to the end. The middle part is just ego strokes.

Dreams came true this past year. I’ve worked basically my entire life to be a professional actor. This year I was a series regular on a television show with a 22 episode first season, and hopefully many more seasons to come. It doesn’t get much better than that.

That the tv show is an adaptation of a piece of art I created from the ground floor alongside some of my closest friends, and was able to ride that train alongside them from a living room in Chicago to a soundstage in Los Angeles? That’s icing on the cake for sure.

— Oh, sidebar, far too few of you have watched Encounter Party. It’s free on demand at that link. Your birthday present to me is to watch the first 1–2 episodes in the next few days, and each of you get ten of your friends to do it too. Then talk about it on the internet. Please and thank you. ;) —
